UKGC report reveals: UK gamblers increase

UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) had recently released a report stating that in the last 4 weeks of 2016 48% of the participants had gambled at UK online casinos. Compared to 2015 this was a 3% growth, but when excluding the National Lottery players this figure had dropped by 33%.

"Based on the report, the online activity engaged 17% of the gamblers with 97% indulged in home gambling."

With comparison to 2015 these numbers remained the same. It was estimated that since 2015 mobile phone and tablet device use for gambling increased by 10% and the figure now reaches 43%. 

The Way British Users Gamble 

 According to James Green, Program Director of the UKGC, the report gives inside look on how British clients prefer to gamble and helps indicate ascendant trends and their threat to the public. Since last year, more detailed data on online gambling behaviors can be provided, Green said. The gathered intel equips them with upper hand and facilitates them to sense the needs of their players and at the same time sufficiently secures them towards any risks. 

The statistics for the last year indicated that in the group of 18-24 years old 68% were tempted to gamble through advertisements or social media posts. On the opposite side were the solid 0.05% for the problem gamblers during the whole 2015, but rose to 0.07 in 2016. 

UKGC with the assistance Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) found out that gamblers consider the following as violating the fair terms and conditions:

*Betting a set amount prior to qualifying for winning prizes;

*Winning being unlikely or in favor of the house;

*The unfair limits set for the free spins bonuses.
