German Police discovered radioactive playing cards in a casino scam

Cheaters and scammers have always had as a target land-based casinos and online casinos. The film Oceans Eleven show the reason people who like stealing are drawn to establishments like these.

At the end of 2017 the police in Berlin rushed into a restaurant. They were looking for radioactive card fragments and found 14 playing cards coated with iodine-125. The restaurant did not have a license for a casino. In the stealing scheme was involved a woman who was detained.

Dangerous playing cards

Coating with radioactive substances is among the most dangerous ways to attack the House.

It is rather uncommon to see a player with a detector for identifying coated cards

Cards coated with radioactive substance can be extremely harmful for the health of the players and the other people from the restaurant who are involved. The investigation works continue.

Gambling & Cheating

This is not the only story for cheating in a casino.

In 1999 the South African police in Johannesburg found a very well elaborated cheating system at Caesar's Casino. The casino Blackjack earnings suddenly dropped with 11%. The fact became really suspicious as such a large sum was in a span of only 3 weeks. It was discovered that the company manufacturing cards had started marking cards for this particular casino. After that the information about these marked cards was sold to players. This is the way they explained the earning on a regular basis.

In 2004 there was an other typical example for cheating at the Ritz Casino in London. A laser scanner was used by several gamblers. They started cheating at the Roulette table by measuring the speed of the ball on the wheel. In this way they could guess the place it could land. The three players could win by cheating $1.8 million before being caught by the police.

In 2014 invisible ink was used by casino workers in France to mark cards. The Italian gambler Stefano Ampollini used infrared contacts to see the cards marked with ink. He was fined and jailed together with his band of helpers.

The examples show that cheating at a casino, online or land-based, usually lands up in a jail.
