Online Gambling Legalization in West Virginia

Since its beginning and during the years of rapid progress, casino industry has passed through many restrictions.

Nowadays we can see a clear tendency towards legalization of online gambling.

The legalization of online gambling in the American state West Virginia has already become a fact  
 

Amendments in the Law

In West Virginia changes started with the legalization of online casino and poker gambling. It was followed by the West Virginia Lottery Interactive Wagering Act which was approved by the Governor, Jim Justice earlier this week.

A lot of concerns about eventual veto of the gambling act were in vain. The Governor vetoed 27 other bills but not online gambling bill.

With this legislative changes, West Virginia becomes the fifth state (alongside New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware and Pennsylvania) in the Unites State of America where online gambling has been already legalized. Now the state will be able to offer residents online casino and poker products too.

The responsibility on finalizing the online gambling operations before June 2020 is taken  by the West Virginia Lottery which is the administrative head of all gambling operations in this state. As it is envisaged state residents will be allowed to take part in online gambling activities not before 2021.

Legalization of Digital Sports

Legalization refers not only to online gambling, but it also effects the digital sports betting. But it will be sad to say that at current time this is of no benefit to the only digital sports betting organization in West Virginia. And this is because it has recently suspended its services.

The services were managed by Delaware’s North Wheeling Island and Mardi Gras casinos. A dispute arose between their online tech partner, Miomni Gaming and its third party vendor, Entergaming. As no consensus has been reached the services on this program were suspended.

As it was said this is an unlucky situation, but West Virginia residents can look forward. With the recent legislative changes they have the chance to enjoy online casino and poker gameplay and feeling guilty at all. And they will have a third online gambling option to enjoy immediately when the digital sports betting operations are reinstated.

In general it is more than certain that it is going to take quite a longtime this new bill to come into effect. But the good news is that it is definitely happening within the next few years. Good things happen slowly.
