Working Procedures towards legalisation of online gambling in the USA

In popular US regions, like Pensilvania there were long debates last year regarding the legalisation of online gambling. At the end the decision was to sign in 2018 the bill that will legalise and regulate online gambling in their territory. Pensilvania together with Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware will be the next US State where players can participate in legal and regulated iGaming.

According to the latest announcements of Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board applications for iGaming licensing will be accepted from the 2^nd April, 2018. To power their interactive gambling portfolios the applicants will be required to make use of third-party software developers.

The online casino industry in the USA might be positively influenced by the legalisation of gambling in Pennsylvania. Many hope that it is a turning point that will cause a domino effect. Other regions will probably start similar procedures for online casino legalisation.

Some forms of gambling may be very soon legalised in many US states as they have already shown interest and made the first procedures

Online Poker legalisation in New York

In 2017 New York started a procedure wich aims to legalise online poker and sports betting. The Senate accepted the Bill S 3898, but it failed when was brought in the Assembly. The Senate’s Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee brought up the same piece of legislation once again this year. It was reported to the Finance Committee with a 10/1 vote.

Many are interested to push this bill and ensure its legalisation. If online poker is legalised it could generate extra revenue. As a result it will help especially the fact that the land-based casinos of New York have struggled in this department. The result will be clear very soon.

Online gambling legalisation in California

The first steps to legalise online poker in California were started ten years ago. In February 2017 the  Assembly member Reginald Jones-Sawyer introduced the Internet Poker Consumer Protection Act. The Bill is known as AB1677. If it is accepted applications for 7-year licenses will start to be accepted. But for now there are many difficulties for the 2/3 majority vote that is needed to pass the bill.

Obviously poker players in California might have to wait until 2019 for better news in connection with the legalisation of online poker in their region. But the hope exists that sports betting will be legalised together with online poker. New tries to reintroduce the piece of legislation will be made in 2019.

It is seen that things are running too slowly, but at least there is some movement. The taken destination is the right one. We all expect that good surprises for state legalising of online gambling will come soon.
