Sweden Supports Responsible Online Gambling by New Law Amendments

Sweden has made new amendments to their Social Services Act and Health Care Act in an attempt to provide awareness and to find a solution to gambling addiction. Socialstyrelsen (The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare) has started a range of measure in supporting those who need it with regards to gambling addiction. Before the liberalization of gambling market Sweden has made recent changes. It is supposed that these amendments will come into force in 2018. The people who need help should visit their local health care facilities for support. Young people will be educated on the risks that gambling addiction provide as they have been educated about alcohol and drugs.

Christina Högblom from Socialstyrelsen commented that it is a problem in many parts of the country to get help for gambling addiction. She expressed optimism that with the recent amendments in legislation more people will be able to get the necessary help and assistance.

Responsible Gambling

Gambling as a problem of addiction cannot be banned completely. In order for entertainment to be safe and fun, it is important to know that adults above the legal age are fully responsible for the actions they do and ensure a safe playing environment.

There are some ways for practicing responsible gambling:

1. Organize your budget and be strict with it. If you know the amount of money you have set to spent, you can play and then stop. Usually you would like to play once again your favorite casino game or make one more deposit, but it’s better to stick to your budget and do not regret afterwards.
