The Court in Sweden approved a 5-year operating license for LeoVegas

The Court in Sweden approved a 5-year operating license for LeoVegas Casino.
Against its continuing expansion the online gambling industry is taking stricter measures in terms of regulating their online gambling market.
In an attempt to re-regulate the market, Sweden has recently started the process of changing their gambling regulations.
The popular top rated online casino LeoVegas granted a 5-year operating license in Sweden.
Operators who wish to work legally in Sweden and apply for operating licenses will have to fulfill some strict terms and conditions under the new gambling regulations in this country.
Any of the operating companies who have committed violations abroad that led to sanctions were offered shorter licenses in Sweden. LeoVegas was one of these companies. In 2018 the casino received a £600,000 penalty for misleading advertising and the handling of customers.
These serious sanctions were imposed by the British Gambling Commission. It was found out that LeoVegas produced 41 misleading adverts. Additionally to this the casino failed to return funds to 11,205 self-excluded players or players who closed their accounts. Another fact became clear that 1,894 self-excluded players received marketing materials from the operator. 413 of these players were allowed to gamble without speaking to them.
The response of LeoVegas was that the failures in terms of the self-exclusion players were committed due to a computer software mistake. The operator also declared that as soon as they knew about the error it was eliminated. All the funds were also returned. As for the advertising fail, LeoVegas blamed their affiliate partners. In general the failure appeared as a result of different interpretations of the regulations done by LeoVegas and the Gambling Commission.
Looking ahead!
Fair or not, based on the report from the British Gambling Commission the Swedish Government imposed a term limit in the form of a shorter license for the casino. According to LeoVegas the violations dated too far in the past, back to April 2016. And furthermore all the necessary corrections and improvements had been made.
And the Court agreed that there were no grounds to limit the license. LeoVegas provided the Court with all the required information and from the other hand, their most serious violations were committed almost three years ago.
So the Administrative Court ruled in favour of the casino and approved a 5-year license, which is actually the longest possible term.
